Paper for the Vote

Novemeber 4, 2024 - Voting day!

Students at the University of Vermont in the Communciation Design course in the Fall of 2024 were asked to make voter registration cards to hand out to the public. Each voter card were designed by students, using distinct typefaces they were researchinng.

Handmade papers are made from recycled textile cotton from the Sustainable Fashion course at UVM, recycled political posters on campus, and local plant material.

The results of papers were displayed in the CDAE display case and also at the Silver Special Collections Library exhibition space all semester.

Final voter cards from the class were turned into a special flag book by Prudence Doherty! It was such a wonderful addition to the end of this project. Also a way to remain hopeful in face of all the uncertainty of the current times. I’m so appreciateive of Prudence for making this project so well rounded and complete.
