Forgotten Letters, 2023 - ongoing

giấy (handmade paper), mulberry, hemp, recycled textile, silk

This is an ongoing body of work and collaboration with my father. Layers of paper are lightly formed and stitched together. The fibers are naturally dyed from indigo, bamboo, and sumi ink/recycled black cotton textile. The watermarked text are texts taken from my father's letters to me about his time in Vietnam in the 1960’s-1970’s. The piece represents process, language, and fragmentation—similar to how we read and interpret stories that are passed down to us generationally.
